Eight influenza virus strains were isolated during the epidemic in Korea last December 1977 to March 1978. The isolated influenza virus strains were experimented for their antigenic analysis by -means of hemagglutination inhibition test and obtained results are as follows;
1. The six infulenza virus strains among eight isolated strains were identified as antigenicaly similar to A/Texas/1/77 (H3N2).
2. The two influenza virus strains were identified as antigenicaly similar to A/USSR/90/77 (H1N1).
3. Further confirmation was made by The WHO World Influenza Centre, London and registed as A/Korea/78, A/Korea/2/78, A/Korea/3/78, A/Korea/4/78, A/Korea/5/78 and A/Korea/8/78 as subtype H3N2, and A/Korea/6/78 and and A/Korea/7/78 as subtype H_(1)N_(1)
